Styling the Seasons : May

I have to confess, I was at a little bit of a loss as to what to style in my home for this month's styling the seasons. After the flurry of April's floral extravaganza, and being thrilled to win a place at a wreath making class with at{mine}, Wild Rubus and Bloom & Wild, May left me a little unsure. While this month has me feeling all sunny and ready for summer, it's also a month of few notable occasions to anchor a styled surface to. So, in the spirit of celebrating the season and all its blooming glory, I looked outside for inspiration. Sure enough, our rose bush has just burst into life, the delicate roses with layer upon layer of soft petals unfurling as though coaxed out of a long sleep. And the smell. Oh, the smell. So sweet and gentle. I'm fairly sure my neighbours think me odd as I hover by the bush when I return home, inhaling the rose's sweet perfume.

There's a rose in one of my favourite prints, a collaboration between ace London florists Petalon and design duo Those Who. In a bid to bring together the beauty of this floral print and my favourite home-grown bloom, I nipped a little rose from the bush and strung up a little dried eucalyptus, too.

While I know I probably could have spent longer arranging it all in a more sophisticated way, I quite like this pared back look. The sideboard which it is all arranged on is in our dining room, and usually is home to a black-framed industrial print. Switching it out with this white-framed print, a gentle flower and sprigs of greenery has lifted the space beautifully. Perfect for a sunny May, don't you think?
