While decking the halls is first at foremost at this festive time of year, home fragrance can sometimes get overlooked. But like their glittery and decorative counterparts, lighting scented candles can bring much cheer to the home. I love to have candles burning at most times of the year, but the fragrances I crave change dramatically come winter time. While fresher, zingier scents are the order of the day in the spring - the days of bright sunshine, blossoming blooms and house cleans, winter calls for woodier, headier smells. Smells that evoke times spent by a crackling fire, fir trees and spiced mulled drinks.
If you want to make your home smell lovely this winter, here are three ways you could try using some gorgeous The White Company treats...
In the bathroom //
While bath foams and oils may not be obvious 'home fragrancers', they still have a lovely way of scenting the bathroom and its surrounding spaces. Recently I've been loving this foam in the Flowers scent. More floral than wintery it's a happy, relaxing smell featuring my all-time favourite geranium and jasmine. Plus, there's the added benefit of enjoying a relaxing in the bubble bath - a must at this time of year, when everything gets rather busy!
In the sitting room //
Along with the usual festive favourites (lots of twinkling candles and fairy lights), a lovely homespray can help make your sitting room smell divine. This winter scented room spray is a gorgeous blend of clove, orange and cinnamon. Unlike many of the supermarket air freshener sprays it's not at all cloying, and instead fills the room with a warming, Christmassy fragrance.
In the bedroom //
When you want to relax and unwind, lighting candles is the perfect way to usher in a calming atmosphere. And if the candles are scented, all the better. (Just remember to not leave them unattended!) This sloe gin candle is created with the happy mix of juniper, sloe berries and plum damsons and smells a-mazing. Who doesn't love sloe gin? The fluted jar it's sitting in is so sweet too, and when it's lit it flickers beautifully making pretty patterns on the wall!
Thanks to these three beauts, my home is now smelling delicious! What home fragrances do you prefer in your home during the winter?
