Well, hello there and welcome to my new little corner of the internet - Gathered Cheer!
This blog change has been brewing for a little while now, and friends of mine probably wondered when on earth it was actually going to happen. But with the new year well underway it has all come together - phew! I must give a big shout out to Teri at The Lovely Drawer and her husband Nick, who between them designed and built this site. They're ace! I'm pretty sure Teri read my mind in how I wanted it all to look. Clever lady.
With it being the last week of the month, this styling the seasons post is somewhat belated, but I'm sneaking in just in time! While the new year often brings with it a sense of a fresh start, a chance for reflection and goal-setting, for me it has definitely brought with it a sense of hopeful anticipation. We've certainly experienced some of life's more challenging, emotional and tough moments over the past few years, so a new year brings fresh, and much welcome, perspective. Now in a new (rented) home, attending a wonderful new church and settling into a new rhythm of life, I feel hopeful and excited for the months ahead.
Part of this excitement is of course tied in with this new site and my hopes for all that it will entail and become. All this excitement and dreaming big led me to style up the otherwise slightly grubby wall in my dining room. (A wall totally counts as a surface, yes?) I figured by creating a wall of happiness and hope, that each time I walk by I'd be inspired and smile.
So, on the wall I of course had to hang my much-loved 2015 calendar. Buying a new calendar is always such a treat, and I was so delighted when I saw that Rifle Paper Co had created an appointment calendar. I think it's so pretty and it makes staying organised less of a chore. On the wall I also gathered a few of my favourite bits from around the house. The Moonrise Kingdom illustration is by Emma Block, and I just adore it. It's one of my favourite films, so every time I look at the print I smile. That picture, along with the adventurers print (a card from etsy) represents how I see this new year and adventure that lies ahead. And how could I not include my gold glittery banner from The Bannerie? It's so cheering and fun. I met Gilit at Alt Summit last summer, and she was so sassy and smart, I instantly loved her and knew I needed one of her beautiful banners for myself!
That little corner is so full of promise, I can't help but be excited! (Even when in reality it's all hung on a dreadfully cracked, mucky wall...) I hope you enjoy the new look blog and my posts. Keep your eyes peeled for some events coming up later in the year, too.
