Candy Cane Lane Decoration with Yankee Candle

Hello lovelies. Today I wanted to share part one of two fun Christmas craft posts I've written, in collaboration with Yankee Candle. To evoke the feeling of a 'Christmas past' the candle is called Candy Cane Lane, and I'm pretty sure you can imagine how it smells. Think tingly fresh, minty candy canes with lovely sweet notes too - yum! And to celebrate this fresh and sweet Christmassy smell, Yankee Candle have created a fun crafty DIY for us all to try. These DIYs are super simple, don't require many materials, and are so sweet and will bring in a warm and Christmassy feel to your home. They're also ideal for fun Christmas craft sessions with children, though I had plenty of fun crafting solo!

First up, is the Candy Cane Lane decoration and here's what you need to get started...

You'll also need some strong adhesive, I used my hot glue gun. {Well, any excuse...}

First off, make a heart shape by joining up two candy canes and glue in place. Repeat for all ten candy canes, so you end up with five stand-alone hearts.

Arrange the five candy cane hearts into a star shape by overlapping the curved edges. Play around with it until you're happy. I won't lie, this took me a while as I'm a bit of a perfectionist and wanted the perfect heart, which is tricky with candy canes of various sizes! Glue in place. Be gentle as you work your way around glueing all the sections, though, as candy canes can snap under pressure.

Once the glue has firmed up, decorate the candy cane star however you like. I added five little red bows, but you could sprinkle on glitter, or add any other embellishments that you have to hand. The eagle-eyed among you will note the change in colours of my candy canes. Yes, I'm that girl who ate/broke too many of the original ones, so I had to dash out and buy replacements! Oops...

Loop the twine through one of the points of the star, hang up with a bit of washi tape and stand back and admire. For extra minty goodness, light the Candy Cane Lane candle to fill your room with the divine Christmassy smell!

See you very soon for part two of the Yankee Candle crafty Christmas.
