DIY Advent Calendar

Hi folks. It's been a little while since I've posted, but I've got a lovely treat for you - a simple advent calendar that requires hardly any time or materials. It's fun to make, and there's still time for you to have a go too. {You've got until Sunday...} So if you've got a little free time between now and then, why not get making? This advent calendar is fun, and mixes all my favourite things: neon, brown paper and chocolate! {Oh , and labels...} Materials you'll need:

  • Envelopes {you can make these yourself, or cheat like I did and use mini craft envelopes from WH Smith!}
  • Pegs
  • Any kind of decorative tape - I like washi tape, and also these gorgeous glitter tapes from Papermash
  • Twine or ribbon
  • Label maker {again, not essential - just makes writing the numbers more fun!}
  • Goodies to fill the envelopes {I used chocolate coins}

Step 1:

Using the label maker, punch out the number one through twenty-four. {See, told you this was easy!} If you don't have a label maker just write on the numbers, or perhaps use stamps - anything goes here!

Step 2:

Decorate each envelope any way you like, using decorative tapes. I used three types and alternated on each envelope - doing different pattens and designs. Washi tape and glitter tape is perfect for this as it's easy to cut and shape into fun patterns.

Step 3:

Assemble all the bits, popping any treats you like in the envelopes, and adding a little peg at the top. Then simply peg up onto your twine. You can either hang the twine horizontally, like bunting, or vertically - as I've done in the photos below.

Et voila! One fun, neon advent calendar!

If you have a go, I'd love to see how you get on! Happy nearly Advent, friends!
